Alex Carter

Alex spent eight years writing for regional motoring supplements before realising nobody reads regional motoring supplements. He switched to an EV in 2022, mostly to stop his neighbour lecturing him about emissions, and hasn’t looked back. He’s driven over 40,000 electric miles across the UK and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of which motorway services have the best rapid chargers and which ones are perpetually out of order. He lives in Warwickshire with his partner and a Skoda Enyaq that he considers a member of the family.

My Enyaq’s manufacturer warranty expires in six months, and I’ll be honest, I’ve been losing sleep over it. 22 March 2026 by Alex Carter

I looked at a 2019 Nissan Leaf last month. Lovely car, full service history, one owner, sensible miles. Battery health showing 84%. The seller had knocked two grand off the asking price because, in his words, “the battery’s getting tired.” I see this all the time, and it’s costing people money based on a misunderstanding … Read more

Benefit in Kind (BIK) rates for electric vehicles are going up from 2% to 3% in April 2027, then to 4% and 5% in the following years.
